“Oh god please don’t call me that it’s literally the worst.”
Jaeger chuckled at Rialle, despite the awful nickname she’d given him. It wasn’t the worst nickname he’d ever received, but it was certainly in the top five. Still, he could tell she didn’t mean it derisively, so even if she kept using it he wasn’t going to make much of a stink about it. He held out his good arm for her. He tucked his knees to his chest, readying himself to get up should she be willing to help him.
“Do you mind giving me a hand? I could use some of that river water myself right about now. I’m not sure if you noticed but I’ve literally been run through so I’m kinda thirsty and should probably wash some of these wounds. Also, there’s a thorn branch trying desperately to make its way into my ass and I’m just not about that life…” |

Jaeger shook his head. He’d never learned to keep his mouth shut when something bothered him. It had made him a target as a child, and gotten him into more than a few fights as a teenager. Now that he was an adult, however, he’d finally grown a healthy sense of humor, and so just accepted his new awful nickname. He’d file it next to his least favorite, ‘Cryjaeby’, which he hoped to all the gods nobody would ever say around Rialle. She’d never let that one go.
As the magical rain washed over him, he could begin to feel his scrapes and bruises mending and healing,.and even his busted bones started to heal - he doubted they would heal entirely, but getting a jumpstart on the process was better than the alternative.
Besides, he'd always loved the rain.
“Thanks, I appreciate it. At least the thorns will get plenty of water if you and I ever fight again.”

“That explains why it stings,” Jaeger laughed at her explanation that she used salt water. He wasn’t going to say anything, but that rain did have a certain sensation to it, and a high salt content would explain that nicely.
Still, the mystical rainfall was pleasant on his skin, and he reveled in it for as long as it lasted. One of the great things about being a vagrant was that he never had to miss a storm just because he had a roof and a bed to sleep in. No, each rainfall was his to enjoy, and enjoy it he did. Having a friend that could literally create rain would be quite nice indeed.
“Don’t apologize, you did more than most of the people who kick my ass. Besides, we both agreed to this and I had a good time. A few dents and dings are nothing to worry about.” |

Jaeger watched Rialle go, taking her little floppy-eared friend with her. He slowly forced himself to his feet, a broad smile on his face. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He'd just made a friend, and she actually wanted to hang out with him again - for sparring, or just to hang out! Man, this was certainly a cause for a celebration.
"Looks like we both made friends, Poog," he said to his little piggie friend, who watched wistfully as Hoku flew off.
"Rrnk rrnk rrrrnk," the pig replied.
"C'mon, let's get something to eat. I know you heard her say bread and I just know you won't let me rest until some bread is in your damn mouth."
"Rrnk rrnk!" Poogie cried affirmatively and with great enthusiasm for the promise of bread. Poogie LOOOOOVED bread - it was the most delicious of foods.
The two hungry vagrants gathered their things and took off out of the forest towards town. They traveled in relative silence together, save for the wind through the trees and the bubbling of the river. Behind them, just as they moved out of hearing distance from the river, an enormous and majestic carp leapt gracefully into the air from beneath the river's surface.
