"The World of man will never cease to amaze me with its wonders," Nanashi muttered as he padded across the sandy shores of the beach, he had stumbled upon this little piece of heaven in his travels around the Fiore region, and it almost felt like home to him, and why wouldn't it be considering the vast amount of sand at his disposal.
Closing his eyes the male focused on his hearing, his ears twitching as he heard the soft lapping of the waves crashing against the shores, and the soft calls of seagulls floating up above in the skies, not to mention the fauna that was to be found all around him as well. It was just so peaceful, untouched by mankind's folly that it almost felt like he was treading on forbidden grounds for just a moment.
Humming a soft tune under his breath, the male began to wave his staff around in a small intricate sand, and as he did so the sand around him seemed to move and shift according to his movements, it was almost hypnotic and mesmerizing if one were to look at it from afar.

As he worked through the motions of this strange and sudden dance, Nanashi's senses told him that something seemed to be lurking within its watery depths, deemed it as unimportant for now since he couldn't detect any sort of evil or menacing presence from it, he continued his exercise until a small time has passed, so by the time he was done he wasn't as alone as he thought he was moments before.
It seemed that it was some sort of merfolk, if his knowledge didn't betray him after so long, those were a race of humanoids that live underwater, with a mostly humanoid appearance but with a fishtail beneath the waist and down, though that only happened when they became wet with water, so they were usually almost the same as humans besides that odd physiology about their bodies.
Blinking twice the male turned toward them and slowly padded towards their location, his staff by his side slowly leaving three distinct small circular hole shapes on the sandy ground as he walked. Soon enough he stood a respectable distance away from the blue-haired girl and her companion, and politely cleared his throat. "Greetings, gentlewoman. It's nice to make your acquaintances, my name is not very important in the world of man, but you may address me as Nanashi." Absently as he gave a small bow towards the female, the Jackal wondered when he would get to don his true name in the realm of mortals.
"May I have the name of such a beautiful maiden?" Nanashi's tone was polite and almost posh if one were to look at it that way, but unlike those raises from nobility or knighthood, he was actually sincere and honest with his title of the female; but in the case she didn't want to be addressed as such he would not mind calling her whatever she wanted.

Tall ears flickered twice as his senses detected the slight shift in the atmosphere, it seemed that whatever he had done or said must have rubbed the blue-haired lady the wrong way, which threw the Celestial Spirit for a loop. He wasn't sure what must have made her uncomfortable, was it his mannerism? Or perhaps the way he addressed her? At first glance, the Celestial Spirit pegged her to be of royal blood and knowing the ways of etiquette and pose; perhaps he was too hasty on his judgement about her upbringing?
The dark-furred Jackal wasn't one for wearing unnecessary garments of cloth when what he had on hand suited him just fine, it was made with great care back where he came from and gifted to him by a dear friend of his. Besides he had seen some of the clothing of the world of man, they looked restrictive and completely unable to help in battle, the wide sleeves would be easy to grab a hold on, the scarves and ties looked like perfect items to wrap around a person's neck and choke them to death, and don't even get him started on some of the choices for footwear that circulated around.
He had seen those kinds back where he hailed from, but he always wondered their use when not in combat, he was sure that you couldn't run or do much if you were wearing heels.
Before his mind could go off on a tangent, he had to slightly tilt his head to the side to avoid the harsh glare of the sun from blinding his eyes, when his vision focused again he saw that the scales that dotted her body were slowly disappearing, in their place stood unmarked pale flesh of that of a human. So she wasn't completely a mermaid, instead a hybrid? That would explain how the scales were disappearing little by little as he looked more human as time passed by.
"Addie." Nanashi tested the name, wondering if that was her true name or a false one. He had given her somewhat of a false name when he introduced himself, but he couldn't give his real name, and besides he has grown accustomate to that name anyway as the years went by. "It's nice to meet you." Tilting his head to the side once again, almost resembling a curious dog, the male wondered what could he do to disperse the tense atmosphere hanging around them.
"Please, forgive me." Clearing his throat the male tried to explain himself. "I'm... not really accustomate to the ways of the world of man, as you can probably tell." Feeling an itch at the back of his neck, the tall jackal humanoid reached a hand back and scratched his nape, unknowingly assuming a posture that was usually made when a person was uncomfortable. "If I made you uneasy, it was not my intention..."
Deep in the waters of the beach, a small sentient creature slowly swam towards the surface, its pointed head breaching the waters and its three eyes looked around before it spotted Addie and Nanashi in the distance, with a muffled gurgle it slowly sank back down into the watery depths.

Watching with almost bored eyes, which he would learn later on that it was merely a deadpan expression, as the female went about her business on getting properly presentable now that her tail transformed into human legs, the Celestial Spirit took a bit of time to look around the beach, noting that it was filled with all kinds of flora around and beyond the sandy shores, and speaking of the shores the dark-furred Slayer had to constantly watch where his footpads landed as many pretty colored seashells were scattered around and about the shores.
It wasn't really too bad, the seashells reflective the light of the sun and formed a beautiful array of colors across the beach, but they were sharp, and some of them were crushed or laying in the sand point first if someone wasn't careful they could cut their foot and infect it with the salt water or the grime that might be hiding in the sands.
"Greetings, Hoku." Nanashi nodded his head in acknowledgment at Addie's companion, though Addie's admonishment caught him slightly by surprise, a snort of amusement escaping him before he could stop it. "Thanks for correcting me. Accustomed." The Celestial Spirit tried the word for a few seconds so he could get the spelling down pat.
Ears twitching slightly, the tall Jackal turned his head towards the shore, blinking his eyes when he spotted multiple bubbles rising from the surface of the sea, almost like someone was heating the water or desperately trying to get to the surface and losing air quickly. Narrowing his eyes at the strange phenomenon, Nanashi couldn't help but feel like something was about to turn very bad in a matter of moments.
His instincts proved him right mere seconds later, having to quickly jump up and away when something huge jumped from the depths of the water and crashed mere feet from their previous position, a rambunctious male voice sounding from the small dust cloud that concealed his body when it landed. "Ahoy wee scallywag, are ye sure ye saw a pretty lookin' beauty?"
There was the sound of gurgling and squeaking, and apparently the reply that the male got just made him more annoyed. "Well, where be she then!? All I see be this squiffy cur o'er here. No wench in needs o' enamorin'. Ye sure yer three eyes are workin' correctly?" Finally the dust cloud settled back down, revealing their appearances to the Celestial Spirit and the blue-haired girl, alongside more gurgling and angry sounding squeaks.
They looked like cephalopods, though the taller one of them seemed to be more anthropomorphic than the smaller one, more humanoid and with a sharp trident in one hand which was currently pointed at Nanashi. The Sand God Slayer's eyes narrowed, observing their forms for a brief second, soon enough spotting how as their bodies dripped with salty water, they also leaked some sort of purple colored substance that dripped from the end of their tentacles and stained the sands with it, turning it a dark sickly color.
"Ah! Thar she be! Well ahoy thar lass~" Once the strange monster's eyes finally found Addie, he smirked broadly and slowly approached the girl with a low purring tone. "Come on sweet poppet, let's leave this ugly cur 'n let's dance across th' shores, wha' says ye?" Before the rude male could reach out and grab the female's hand, there was sharp crack as a tendril of hardened sand whipped the offending hand back, earning a howl of anger from the octopus-like monster.
"Wha' th' farrg!? Who in th' Davy Jones' locker did that!?" Turning sharply and brandishing his trident, the male's somewhat handsome visage twisted into an expression of rage when his eyes found Nanashi standing with his arms crossed, a few tendrils of sand slithering up and around him, resembling like the tentacles the monster sported. "Ye! Ye 'ave a death wish, ye damn cur?!" Besides him the smaller Kraken gurgled and squeaked as threateningly as it could, curling two of its tentacles into fist and resembling like a boxer getting ready for a fight.
"A man should not speak to a lady in that manner, you imbecile." The Slayer intoned curtly, his baritone rumbling like crackling thunder ready to strike at any moment. He had heard the locals talk about a strange aquatic monster was causing trouble in this beach, assaulting the poor ladies and beating the males to the ground to teach them a lesson, with such a bad reputation like this it was bound to drive anyone away from this place.
He had accepted the mission and came here in search of the beast, but since he didn't found anything at first and instead met Addie he wondered if this supposed beast was just a mere rumor. But since he was staring at the beast right in the face he figured that the Kraken's placement needed to change, now.
The Kraken-Human chuckled underneath his breath, a smarmy smirk crossing his features. "Ohhh. 'tis th' big bad cur gonna teach me a lesson? I be sooo scared." Twirling his trident, he pointed the sharp ends at the Jackal. "No, really, ye? Don't make me laugh." Chuckling once again the monster began to build water around him, ready to attack the stupid dog at any moment. "I be gonna enjoy beatin' ye t' th' ground!"
"I can assure you that I am not a Court Jester." Spinning his own staff around, the Slayer descended into a battle stance, his eyes turned toward Addie and he nodded towards the opponent. "Come. Let us do battle."

Looking over at the companion of Addie, the tall Jackal arched a brow questioningly at the small being before Addie's voice rang out clearly across the beach, and trusting his instincts the dark-furred beastman concentrated, grunting slightly as large black and yellow feathery wings formed across his back, spanning almost his whole body with their wingspan and with a powerful downbeat of his wings he was send sailing backwards and away from Addie's attack against the Kraken-humanoid and his smaller friend.
Though judging by the smirk that crossed the humanoid's lips, he didn't seem to be bothered all that much about having some water descend on him. But as it grew closer he suddenly lost the smirk and instead watched in terror as the water slammed onto him and his buddy. "Argh. Wha' kind o' magic be this?! 'tis no normal water!" The Kraken sputtered as he tried not to drown, not that he could anyway considering he lived underwater for most of his life, but this strange water was different and he was sure that trying to breathe it would just be counterproductive against his health.
"That's it, ye damn wench, loot this!" Flipping his trident around and pointing it at the female, the male's visage twisted into a ferocious snarl of anger. "Tidal Wave!" Working with the water around him, he concentrated and summoned forth a great deal of salt water from the ocean, and with another motion of his trident, he aimed it at both the female and the stupid dog.
The smaller Kraken wasn't as helpless as he seemed, once he stopped sputtering and squeaking sharply, he focused his sight on to the two that his friend was attacking, and with a motion of his tentacles he shoots several strands of purple water at the girl in order to distract her.
The Celestial Spirit for his part had his hands full, even while on the air the attack managed to twist apart and reach towards him, and with fast reflexes the Jackal brought his staff in front of him and summoned up a large barrier of sand to cushion the wave of water aimed to strike at him. "Sand God's Wall. Thankfully I summoned that in time." Turning his eyes he watched how Addie would deal with this attack he grew concerned when the water tendrils reached for him with fast precision. "Look out, that's not normal water!" It was an obvious statement, but it as clear that the purple color that made it so seemed to be harmful to anything that it touched.

The Kraken-humanoid's jaw dropped open in clear surprise at how the little girl just ate his freaking water attack like it was nothing! "Ye-- how th' farrg did ye do that!?" Gritting his teeth the male's mind worked a mile a minute to get an answer out of this new enigma and like a lightbulb going on in his mind he finally realized what he was dealing with here. "Oh ye cheeky wee minx, I 'ave heard about ye lot, ye dirty magicians workin' alongside some dastardly creatures t' gain yer powers while here we be us peasant workin' hard t' th' bone t' get t' where we be..." The handsome male's visage shifted into a look of anger and rage, his lips peeling back to show rows of sharpened teeth. "Ye lot disgust me, alright mate, this time, 'tis personal!"
Weaving his trident around, the male gathered a large amount of water in the shape of a large bubble in front of him; keeping a hold of it the Kraken-humanoid quickly inserted his tentacles inside the sphere of water, the crystal clear sphere suddenly turning a sickly shade of purple. "Eat this fer dessert ye wench!" With another twirl of his trident, he jabbed it at the female and like a cannon going off, the purple water bubble shoot towards the lady with startling speed. "'n 'ave another one fer good measure!" Almost too quickly another purple ball of water formed in front of him and shot forth behind the first one.
Meanwhile, the Sandman had his hands full, realizing that its older brother had everything taken care of with the lady, the little Kraken set his sights on Nanashi and started to blast him continuously with water jet after water jet of pressurized purple water. Hard pressed to dodge each and every jet of poisonous water the Beastman decided that it was time to take care of the small shrimp and help Addie with her own opponent.
... Not that she seemed to have any trouble on her own end so far, but still he supposed that help was always appreciated.
"Alright, time to deal with you." Narrowing his eyes the male summoned a wall of sand to keep most of the pressurized water jets at bay, and with the small Kraken's attention focused on him in the sky he used that to his advantage. He extended a hand and slowly twist it to the side and around, and unknown to the small cephalopod around him in a small circle darkened sand was slowly starting to twist around in a small tornado. "Sand God's Fury!" The trap in place, the Jackal swiped his hand to the side, making it implode inward, injuring the small Kraken greatly, and then outward with a small sonic boom echoing around the beach.
Once the dust cloud settled it showed that the little cephalopod was clearly unconscious and out for the count with a myriad of purple bruises dotting its skin. "Forgive me, but I have more important matters to deal with than worrying about you." Nanashi turned towards Addie's location and quickly beat his wings to fly towards her position.

"I'd agree so..." Nanashi looked at Addie with a searching look before looking to the unconscious and badly bruised Krakens laying on the sandy shores of the beach. "Now that they learned their lessons, they shouldn't cause any more trouble to the patrons..." Trailing slightly, a conflicted expression worked its way through his visage. "The Kraken... what he said... do other people feel the same way?" He turned towards the blue-haired girl, his eyebrows turning down in his concern. "Do they really feel like we're stealing their hardwork?" It left a bitter taste in his mouth when he thought about it, he had worked his body, mind and soul to the bone to learn the ways of how to control and command sand as a God Slayer.
Shaking his head from these thoughts for now, the Beastmen's eyes focused back on Addie, or rather Ria, and he blinked at her for a short bit. "My... real name... is..." It was clear that the subject was uncomfortable for the being, even going as far as to perhaps give him some small amount of distress, but he felt like he could trust her with his name, and that even if she knew what he was before, she wouldn't be able to do anything with that information. "My real name is... Sirius; The Curator of the Sands. You're the first in a long time to know my real name, I felt like even though we started on the wrong foot, after this you've also earned the right to know it..."
Blinking again at her odd yet not unwelcomed request, he decided that it couldn't hurt. "Yeah, I don't mind, as long as you don't mind me calling you Addie, heh." Chuckling warmly under his breath the Jackal fixed the girl with a serious stare for a moment just so she'd know that what he would ask of her was something serious. "I have a request of my own, could you go and keep calling me as my other name; Nanashi?" It was a rather odd request for certain, but he didn't want other people to learn his real name without at least having earned the privilege beforehand.

"Oh, I didn't mean about that ruffian we just took care of." Nanashi frowned slightly, cursing himself silently because he didn't articulate himself well enough for Rialle to understand where he was trying to go with his previous statement. "I meant, normal magicians, and humans and other beastmen, do they feel like their accomplishment are stolen when this come as easy as breathing to us?" Shaking his head the tall jackal turned his head to stare out at the ocean, his mind still nursing that bit of thought before he pushed it aside for later.
"I don't mind if you call me Nan or Nanashi. So long as you don't go around saying my real name to everyone we'll be fine." He wondered if that statement sounded like a threat and the thought of such almost made the being groan in dismay. "Now that they are over and done with," It was clear that the dark-furred being was trying to change the subject to their previous opponent and why they were here in the first place. "Do you want to accompany me and claim the reward for this mission? The resort shouldn't be too far from here, only a bit of a walk through it before we reach it."
